Job Description

Site: Toronto Western Hospital
Department: Allied Health supporting General Internal Medicine and ALC, population may vary on operational needs
Work Model: On-Site
Reports to: Manager, Allied Health
Hours: M-F37.5 hours per week 12-8pm, weekends possible based on operational need
Shifts: Days
Status: Temporary Full Time 18 month contract
Closing Date: October 14, 2025
Duties
-
Performing comprehensive assessments of patients and plan individual and group interventions
-
Collaborating in an inter-professional environment in providing patient focused care
-
Contributing to program planning and development
-
Planning, implementing and evaluating Recreation Therapy interventions
-
Complying with, and commitment to, patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Leisure studies with a major/emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation or Bachelor’s degree in a related fi eld (Kinesiology, Physical Education, Psychology or Health Studies).
-
Post-diploma in Therapeutic Recreation.
-
Membership in either a Provincial, National, State or International Therapeutic Recreation Professional Association.
-
Basic Cardiac Life Support – Level C, Healthcare Provider.
-
Minimum of 2 years experience in the practice of Therapeutic Recreation.

Expertise in planning, implementation and evaluation of Therapeutic Recreation interventions.

Excellent organizational and communication skills
-
Sound judgment and ability to work independently and in a team setting.
