Job Summary

As the Outside Operations Manager at Sasquatch Mountain Resort, you’ll play a central role in overseeing all mountain and outside operations across the resort. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you’ll lead multiple departments to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations year-round.

This role combines operational leadership, team management, budgeting, and regulatory oversight in a fast-paced mountain environment. You’ll work closely with department leaders to support daily operations, improve performance, and contribute to long-term planning—helping drive Sasquatch Mountain Resort’s success as a year-round destination.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee all outside and mountain operations for both Winter and Summer, including Lift Maintenance, Lift Operations, Grooming, Vehicle Maintenance, Snow Removal, Facilities, Parking, Ski Patrol, Terrain Park, Trail Crew, Aerial Park
  • Lead, support, and develop department managers and supervisors across all outside operations
  • Coordinate and participate in weekly and monthly management and departmental meetings
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management of key team members
  • Conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews and implement corrective action when required
  • Assist departments with budget planning, goal setting, and operational improvements
  • Track expenses and support financial accountability across all outside operations
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and accurate communication across departments
  • Complete reporting for Operations, Human Resources, TSBC, WorkSafeBC, and other regulatory bodies
  • Ensure all lift maintenance, operations, and recordkeeping comply with CSA Z98 standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain oversight of lift inspections, documentation, and compliance processes
  • Oversee maintenance programs for vehicles, equipment, and facilities
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers; ensure accurate and timely invoicing
  • Participate in budget planning and financial tracking across departments
  • Promote and exemplify Sasquatch Mountain Resort culture and values
  • Support overall resort operations through cross-department collaboration
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in the ski or recreation industry in a supervisory or managerial role required
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mountain operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Suite
  • Experience operating tracked equipment and recreational vehicles considered an asset
  • Valid BC Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector check
  • Lift 150 certification required (or ability to obtain as soon as possible)
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard at an above-average level
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work
  • Must be adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (including blackout periods: Christmas, Family Day weekend, Spring Break)
  • Reliable transportation or ability to reside in the resort village
