Privately owned and operated, KF Aerospace is an industry leading Aviation Company and the largest Commercial AMO in Canada. We operate two full service MRO facilities in Kelowna, BC and Hamilton, ON. Our facilities support Boeing 727, 737, 757, 767, Airbus 300,310,319/320/321, Bombardier Dash8, Q400, Convair 580, DC10, MD80, Embraer, Twin Otter and other aircraft. We complete over 300 total aircraft projects annually for customers like Air Canada, WestJet, Canadian North, Sunwing, Air Transat, DND, and other key Canadian and US carriers. In addition to maintenance checks, we offer major modifications, cargo door installations, AC stretches and conversions. We provide fleet and customer support on location, as well as out-base coverage.
The Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program is an aircrew training program to prepare pilots, Air Combat Systems Operators, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators to meet the future aerospace requirements of the Royal Canadian Air Force. As part of the SkyAlyne Team, KF Aerospace operates an Acceptable Technical Organization (ATO) acting as the Military Type Certificate Holder (TCH) for the five fleets of training aircraft. As the TCH, the ATO is responsible for the engineering and airworthiness of the FAcT fleets.
JOB OVERVIEW
As a growing company, KF Aerospace is looking for an Engineering Co-op student to join us in the FAcT ATO.
The qualified individual will work closely with the fleet lead engineers and the Senior Design Engineer on a variety of different projects, including developing and implementing the Electronic Record Keeping System for 5 fleets of aircraft, assisting with process development and working closely with aircraft manufacturers to respond to technical queries raised by fleet Approved Maintenance Organizations (AMOs).
This individual will develop a strong understanding of airworthiness and aircraft certification and will become familiarized with DNDs Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM) and its associated procedures. Additionally, this individual will assist in accepting new aircraft into the FAcT program and assist with Release To Service (RTS) in preparation for aircrew training.
Typical day of a FAcT Engineering student:
The role of the co-op student will be to contribute to the ATO team and to the FAcT program more broadly. They will work collaboratively with a variety of individuals including engineers, technicians in the aircraft AMOs and aircraft operators.
The co-op student will be an integral part of the ATO team and will assist with aircraft acquisition and aircraft RTS. As part of these activities, the co-op student will be involved in:
- The development and implementation of the technical records solution across the 5 aircraft fleets
- The preparation and submission of fleet Operator Maintenance Programs (OMP)
- The preparation and submission of fleet In Service Monitoring Programs (ISMP); Aircraft Structural Integrity Monitoring, Engine Structural Integrity Monitoring, Aircraft Mechanical Systems Integrity Monitoring, Aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnection System Monitoring and Aircraft Weapon System Cybersecurity Monitoring
- Leading and supporting various projects; becoming acquainted with Engineering Project Management principles
- Helping to research and draft technical responses to Engineering Queries
By the end of the work term the FAcT ATO co-op student will have had exposure to all aspects of initial aircraft certification and aircraft Release To Service. They will have been involved in multiple projects on different aircraft types, gained experience developing various engineering documents and worked both independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
REQUIREMENTS
- Working towards a University Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to commit to a 12 or 16-month term (May 2026-April 2027 or May 2026-August 2027)
- Due to security clearance requirements, must be a Canadian citizen or have PR status
The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude and strong work ethic and is the type of individual who uses their highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail when taking the initiative on projects. They are able to work effectively both alone, and as part of a team. Candidates also need to possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have basic computer skills.

The salary for this position is $62,167.73 (KF wage band level 7).
