What can you expect from this position?

The Baggage Project and Program Support role plays a key part in advancing the GTAA’s baggage initiatives, programs, and operational improvements. This position provides analytical, operational, and project coordination support to ensure baggage systems, processes, and service standards operate efficiently and continue to evolve.

Working closely with Baggage Programs, Baggage Operations, IT, and external partners, this role helps identify opportunities for improvement, assesses system and operational performance, supports the delivery of new initiatives and pilots, and ensures program activities are well‑documented, data‑driven, and aligned with organizational goals.

As a Student, Baggage Project & Program Support, you will:

  • Apply analytical and problem‑solving skills learned through academic studies to interpret baggage performance data, identify trends, and support evidence‑based recommendations that enhance operational efficiency and passenger outcomes.
  • Support baggage projects and program activities by assisting with data collection, documentation, workflow mapping, milestone tracking, and post‑implementation evaluations, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across Baggage Programs & Projects.
  • Conduct on‑site operational observations to document baggage system behavior, stakeholder interactions, and process adherence, translating findings into clear summaries and improvement recommendations under team guidance.
  • Assist in coordinating and evaluating pilot programs by gathering data, preparing assessment materials, helping with logistics, and supporting reporting on trial outcomes and lessons learned.
  • Support auditing and compliance activities by participating in structured reviews of baggage processes and service provider performance and assisting in documenting findings and follow‑up actions.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports and presentations that communicate data insights, project updates, and operational findings to support decision‑making across Baggage Programs, Baggage Services, and other stakeholders.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • Currently enrolled in a University or College program in Computer Science, Data Science, Process Engineering, Aviation, or Operation related.
  • Strong skills in the creation of effective presentations.
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking to constructively question established processes and guidelines in the spirit of continuous improvements.
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy etc., would be an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of current Microsoft office products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
  • Knowledge of airport systems, functions and operations would be an asset.
  • Dependability and self-motivation, exhibiting initiative, tact and a mature approach to working with management, internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position.
