QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • A Master's Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO).
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience working with orthopedic patients, including orthopedic assessment, and post-op care for knee/hip joint replacement patients.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the assessment and management of arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions in an Advanced Practice Practitioner role.
  • Holds successful completion / training for the Advance Practice Physiotherapist role (as per North East Joint Assessment Clinic Standards)
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in educating patients and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to make clinical decisions on when to refer to specialists for diagnosis and treatment, ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuing education.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems, specifically Expanse Ambulatory.
  • Able to contribute to program development, data collection and analysis.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to organize and prioritize as required.
  • Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the job.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events required
  • Must demonstrate good attendance Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.

The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario

NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.

NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.

NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.

A major teaching centre for students in medicine, psychiatry, nursing and allied health professions, NBRHC is proud to be affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Nipissing University, Canadore College and several other Ontario colleges and universities.
