Join the R.I.S.E. Women's Mentorship Program!

Peel Regional Police (PRP) Uniform Recruiting invites applications for the second cohort of the R.I.S.E. (Resilient, Inspiring, Strong, Empowered) Mentorship Program. This program is designed to pair prospective women applicants, who are curious about a career as a police officer but are not quite ready to apply, with a currently serving woman police officer (the “Mentor”). As a Mentee, you will benefit from guidance and support as you navigate your journey into policing.

The program begins with a 1 ½ day immersive workshop, where you will be paired with your Mentor. You will receive mentorship over a 16-week period, with weekly check-ins and three fitness testing dates, interview preparation evening to provide valuable insights, advice, and encouragement.

The goal of the R.I.S.E. Mentorship Program is to help prepare you for the 2026 Recruit Constable/Cadet application process. In alignment with the 30x30 Pledge, which strives to increase female representation in policing. The program offers hands-on training, leadership development, career preparation, and the opportunity to network with experienced police Mentors.

This is a free program with no financial compensation, focused on providing you with the skills, confidence, and support needed for success in the policing profession.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • At least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Successfully completed at least four years of secondary school education or its equivalent.
  • Ability to check in with your mentor weekly throughout the duration of the mentorship
  • Must be available to attend in person on the following dates:
  • January 23rd 2026, 5-8pm / January 24th 2026 8am-3pm
  • February 19th 2026 5-7pm
  • March 19th 2026 5-7pm
  • April 18th 2026 12-2pm
  • April 30th 5-7pm
  • May 14th 2026 5-8pm

Who Can Apply :

This opportunity is open to women aged 18 years and over, who are considering a career in policing but may not yet be ready to apply or are seeking additional development and guidance.

Applicants will be required to answer the below questions in their cover letter to be considered for the program:

1. Why are you interested in participating in this mentorship program and what are you hoping to achieve from this opportunity.

2. Please tell us why you want to become a Police Officer and what motivates you towards that goal?

3. What are your professional and personal goals for the next 6–8 months?

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted via email. Please check your inbox regularly, including junk mail. If selected, you’ll take part in an introduction to the prep circuit and shuttle run. These are not pass/fail, but simply to asses your current fitness level, plus an in person Local Focus Interview

Applicants in consideration shall be subject to a thorough background investigation that includes, but is not limited to, police checks with local, provincial and out-of-country law enforcement agencies, if required, education credentials, credit and financial inquiries, and personal and work references.
