Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Supervisor – Golf Services, marshals the golf course according to established golf course policies, rules and procedures.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enforces golf course policies, procedures, rules and golf etiquette.
  • Liaises/communicates with the Clerk, Starter and grounds crew to know the status of the golf course with respect to traffic flow, grounds conditions and special situations.
  • Patrols the golf course and ensures that play is moving at a pace in accordance with established golf course standards.
  • Conducts periodic checks to ensure golfers on the course have paid for their round.
  • Communicates with golfers in a friendly, courteous and tactful manner. Receives and responds to customer inquiries, comments and suggestions.
  • Sets out and picks up flags and tee markers as required.
  • Fixes ball marks on greens, undertakes minor divot repair, checks ball/fills ball washers, moves tee markers as required.
  • Checks and replenishes water containers. Checks restrooms for cleanliness and supplies.
  • Keeps the golf course clubhouse and parking lot areas clean.
  • Assists with golf power carts as required.
  • Prepares reports as required.
  • Provides back-up relief and support to Golf staff, including but not limited to, collecting and securing revenues from the sale of green fees, season passes, merchandise sales (i.e. alcoholic beverages), rentals and the provision of other services, as required.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Current certifications: Ontario Smart Serve
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
  • Must be experienced in the game of golf and be knowledgeable of all aspects of the game
  • Ability to deal effectively with public and staff in a friendly, courteous manner is essential.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
  • May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
  • Seasonal employment
  • Position involves shift and weekend work
  • Hours of work will vary
