Summary of Responsibilities

Yamaha Motor Finance Canada (YMFCA) is the captive finance division of Yamaha Motor Canada, which is focused on providing financial solutions to Yamaha dealers and customers through its Retail and Wholesale finance programs as well as Warranty and insurance offerings.

This position will be responsible for providing analysis, insights, and reporting to drive sustainable growth for the loan portfolio as well as operational effectiveness for YMFCA as a whole.

Leveraging a strong data and analytics background, the Credit Risk & Analytics Analyst will study multiple internal data sources to analyze and report on our loan portfolio in all phases of the lifecycle from lead generation, application, credit decisioning, account management, collections and customer retention.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop new credit risk reports and quality assurance checks as required, and provide adhoc analyses of portfolio trends. Participate in risk oversight activities and meetings, and deliver in-depth insights into the drivers of key risk trends.
  • Monitor and analyze the automated credit risk strategy to improve decision-making effectiveness and drive business growth. Review and enhance the risk segmentation strategy to ensure that loans are approved at the appropriate price-to-risk level.
  • Manage and execute the design, implementation, and pre- and post-campaign analyses for new marketing, product, sales, and risk initiatives (e.g., collection and retention strategies). Provide analytical and reporting support to various departments across the finance company. Support the Compliance team by reviewing and cataloging relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Prepare and maintain documentation for compliance audits and reviews. Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on the organization.

Experience Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma: Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Program of Study: Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science/Analytics, Business Administration, Engineering
  • Years of Experience: Minimum: 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Type of Experience: Minimum: strong working knowledge, demonstrated in a previous position, using two or more of the following tools: SAS, SQL, Snowflake, or Sigma

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in credit risk management or portfolio analytics, including delinquency and loss analysis.
  • Analytical, with a passion for finding insights in data and driving change based on those insights.
  • Detail oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (written and verbal) technical information and ideas. Strong collaboration and accountability mindset.

Nice to have:

  • Banking or Captive Finance experience.
  • Familiarity with scorecards, segmentation, and risk-based pricing strategies. Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., IFRS-9, AML, consumer protection).
