Job Description
Garden City Tree & Landscape Ltd. is hiring an experienced Slinger Truck Operator to support our landscaping and construction operations in Victoria and surrounding areas.
This role combines slinger truck operation, material delivery, trailer hauling, equipment transport, yard operations, and hands-on field support. The successful candidate must be confident operating slinger systems safely and efficiently in residential, commercial, and construction environments.
This is a physical, fast-paced position — not just driving. You will be actively involved in job site logistics, material placement, equipment operation, and supporting crews throughout the day.
We offer flexible scheduling, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available.
Key Responsibilities

Operate slinger trucks to transport and place landscape materials safely and efficiently

Deliver materials, tools, and equipment to multiple job sites

Operate and maintain slinger conveyor systems

Troubleshoot minor conveyor or equipment issues and perform basic maintenance

Load, secure, and unload materials safely

Support crews with site setup, material handling, and yard operations

Perform daily inspections and maintain safe operating practices
Requirements
-
Valid Class 3 license with Air Brakes

Minimum 1 year slinger truck experience
-
Minimum 5 years commercial truck driving experience

Experience towing trailers and operating larger trucks
-
Basic mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills

Physically fit, reliable, and safety-oriented
-
Equipment operation is an asset (mini skid steer, walk-behind machines, small loaders)

Compensation
$30-$35 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Our crew Schedule: Regular: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Seasonal Hours (April 13 to September 27, 2026): Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (4 day a week 10 hour a day schedule)
Work Location: Different Greater Victoria work sites.

Garden City Tree & Landscape Ltd was founded by Chris Stansfield approximately 15 yrs ago. The company has grown to 35 full time staff that includes office administration, Human Resource Technician, Risk manager, Estimator and managers of each of its divisions (Arbor, Maintenance, Install, Irrigation, Equipment). Chris Stansfield is President and co owner. Colin Eaton is Vice President and co owner. The two owners have known each other since their early teens and have developed a respectful working relationship.
