About The Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Accounting Clerk I (35 hours per week) based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Finance Manager/Deputy CFO, the Accounting Clerk I will be responsible for ensuring the financial and accounting records of the municipality are accurately prepared and maintained in accordance with District policies, procedures, and bylaws.
Your Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Prepare, maintain and reconcile records and sub-ledgers for accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgets, utility accounts, property taxation and business licensing; Process and reconcile bill payments, purchase orders, EFT’s, property tax payments, homeowner grant applications, cash receipts and journal entries; Answer public and internal inquiries relating to financial matters, bylaws and policies.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of two years' work experience in an Accounting position. Additionally, an Accounting Clerk I is required to have a minimum of 1 year of post secondary in Accounting or Business Administration, preferably in a municipal setting.
As our ideal candidate, you have superior attention-to-detail and math skills. You have superior time management and organizational skills. In addition, you have sound knowledge of the policies, procedures, and principles of accounts receivable, utility billings, property taxation, accounts payable.

The District of Lake Country is located near the centre of the Okanagan Valley and is made up of four distinct neighbourhood communities: Oyama, Winfield, Carr's Landing and Okanagan Centre. Lake Country is a beautiful, unique place, rich in its own cultural history.
The District was incorporated as a municipality on May 2, 1995. Shortly after incorporation, a referendum was held and the residents decided to maintain their four, distinct neighbourhood communities. The result was the formation of the only municipality in British Columbia that currently utilizes a neighbourhood constituency system. This allows each of the four neighbourhood communities to elect one Councillor, with the mayor and two councillors-at-large being elected by all the residents of the District.
