We are seeking a highly motivated associate to join the Real Estate group in our growing Montréal office. As a member of this group, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive legal services to diverse and sophisticated clients engaged in various real estate transactions. In this role, you will be required to work proactively and assist in the drafting and negotiating of agreements of purchase and sale, lease agreements and related transactional documents, as well as advise clients on real estate matters.
Essential Functions
- Advising clients from several sectors on real estate transactions with respect to the purchase and sale of properties, complex real estate mixed-use projects and real estate financing;
- drafting, reviewing, and negotiating offers to lease, lease agreements and related documents as to office, industrial and retail properties.;
- identifying and assessing risks associated with corporate transactions from a real estate perspective and providing optimal risk mitigation remedies;
- providing strategic guidance on regulatory compliance matters such as but not limited to title and zoning; and
- structuring co-ownership, joint venture, limited partnership and management agreements for real estate development projects.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will be qualified to practice law in Québec and have the following credentials:
- between four (4) to six (6) years of relevant experience in private practice or solid in-house experience primarily focused on real estate transactions, such as acquisition, disposition and financing of commercial properties;
- knowledge of real estate matters in the context of infrastructure projects is an asset;
- knowledge of construction law is an asset;
- excellent legal mind;
- exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- fully bilingual (English and French);
- consummate team player;
- commitment to excellence; and
- strong communication and drafting skills.
