About the role

JOB SUMMARY You are responsible for coordinating, managing and/or providing input into various projects and activities related to a wide range of initiatives and strategies including legislative agenda, communication/human resources/technical / operational plans, policies, programs, procedures, protocols and standards related to operational effectiveness.
You serve as a key contact and resource for branch related issues, and support management in the decision making process by conducting research, compiling and analyzing research findings, preparing briefings, writing reports and responses, and maintaining stakeholder relations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of 4 year university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Social Science or a related field

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience working in a large organization, with demonstrated related experience in project planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation.
Experience is required in a range of project related elements, such as information technology, public policy, customer service management, communications, organizational change and development, community development, business process modeling, policy and procedure management or human resources, using such tools as project management, document management, and research analysis.

  • Protocols for developing submissions, briefings, major reports
  • Human resources practices and principles
  • Corporate, departmental, and branch policies and procedures
  • Organizational change concepts and methodologies

  • Corporate system requirements, management controls, procedures and monitoring processes
  • Possess a good understanding of collective agreements and the transportation industry, preferably as they apply to conventional transit and light rail operations
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

  • Possess organizational and project management skills and flexibility to plan, initiate, organize and prioritize own work, and to deal effectively with multiple priorities/demands, conflicting priorities, pressures and deadlines
  • Customer service sensitivity to meet diverse customer requirements
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong communications skills in multiple channels – in-person, writing, groups, etc.
  • Able to conduct research, compile/analyze issues/data, make judgments on the interpretation of issues/data, and formulate recommendations
  • Possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to make decisions
  • Possess strong existing computer skills, with ability to use Microsoft Office, general Internet, electronic communication and computer software applications specific to the relevant business or service delivery area
  • Able to prepare reports, presentation materials, correspondence in an organized, clear and concise manner
  • Able to work independently, with minimum support/direction, and cooperatively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships, to lead initiatives, change processes and to influence others
  • Able to think analytically, and concentrate/focus on accuracy and detail
  • Able to demonstrate leadership, initiative and sound judgement
  • Possess sensitivity to a political environment, the ability to act courteously and to exercise tact and diplomacy
  • Innovative and able to demonstrate a results-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Flexible and able to deal with contentious issues/situations
  • Possess a work record of good attendance and job performance
