About the role

Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). PMC also operates strategically-located facilities for crude oil and NGL storage, separates NGL from natural gas and fractionates NGL into pure liquid petroleum gas (LPG) products, including propane and butane.

Plains is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Administrator for our Empress North (VI) facility located north of Medicine Hat, AB. In this role you will grow your career and skill set while providing a high caliber of administrative support for payroll, accounting, computing resources, and document management. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, you will assist employees, area supervisors, and the director in executing their work. This role is a key liaison with other Plains operational areas and the Calgary corporate office.

Permanent residency within 120 km of the Empress facility and work on site is a condition of employment and preference will be given to local candidates.   • Prepare, create, and distribute various reports using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Create meeting agendas, minutes, and action trackers, tracking actions to completion.
  • Receive invoices for Accounts Payable.
  • Track and enter all employee training records in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Provide confidential and administrative support to leader and the Area Management Team (AMT).
  • Maintain district SharePoint site indexes and files.
  • Execute document control and records management, maintaining the integrity of associated systems.
  • Provide general reception and administrative services.
  • Assist all visitors and contractors with required orientations and issue security badges.
  • Arrange ad hoc functions as required.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in office administration or equivalent business diploma preferred.
  • Previous administrative experience preferred; new grads will be considered.
  • Project coordination and bookkeeping skills considered strong assets.
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of online skills test.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Power BI considered an asset.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and responsibility.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to contribute to and thrive in a busy team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to complete Advanced First Aid training and serve on corporate emergency response team considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Permanent residency within 120 km of the Empress facility.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing. #Plains
