EIPS is recruiting a part-time (0.714 FTE) Senior High Music, Band and English Teacher at Bev Facey Community High.
Bev Facey Community High serves approximately 1,090 students in grades 10 to 12, with 53 teaching staff and 25 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.
Bev Facey Community High's many programs foster a culture of acceptance, support, fair play and excellence. Academics, athletics, fine arts, CTS programs as well as leadership opportunities all give students the opportunity to achieve excellence.

This assignment includes:

General Music 10, 20, and 30 - This class allows students to develop their identity as songwriters through practice on an instrument, writing captivating lyrics and collaborating with other musicians in the rock and pop genre. Students will meet other musicians and form groups to perform original material.

Instrumental Music 10, 20, & 30 - This class supports students coming together in a concert band community to perform wonderful pieces written by the masters. Throughout the grades, students will build upon previous skills that serve to create a well-rounded musician and explore a variety of musical styles. This is a performance-based course.

Audio 14, 25, 25 - Students learn modern music production through digital recording, DJ-ing, and live mixing, using professional studio equipment. Projects range from soundtracks and beat-making to recording, remixing, and DJ-ing events. They also produce concerts for our General music class.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education degree

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Previous experience teaching the outlined classes an asset

Effective organization and classroom management skills

Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged

Excellent verbal and written skills

Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
