Business Planning – Scheduler - Expeditor

Job Location: Nanticoke

Reports to: Manager – Business Planning

Salary: starting at $65,000, with the pay rate commensurate with experience

Job Overview

  • Safety is the Core Value of Stelco and the individual will make Safety their first priority in the execution of all work activities, including monitoring contractor/vendor safety in support of work efforts.
  • The Business Planning candidate will learn the multiple aspects of the overall Stelco business. The focus will be on scheduling of the production facilities at Lake Erie, steel expediting to a ready state, steel application to customer orders and ensuring customer orders are delivered to them correctly and on time. They do this by working with other departments to keep steel flowing from each operation to the next, through the scheduling of the production facilities. This is an existing vacancy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Expedite slabs to a ready state for conversion on the Hot Strip Mill.
  • Create schedules for the LEW production facilities to maximize production and meet customer deliveries
  • The scheduler-expeditor will work a 12 hr day T pattern and be on call with the responsibilities to support the mill during the off hours evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Complete scheduling systems audit reports to ensure orders and inventory are in good standing within the systems.
  • Expedite coils to a ready state on the ship floor.
  • Manually apply slabs to ensure order fulfillment.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding schedule timing, steel flow and on-time delivery.
  • Manage Customer Order changes, cancellations, re-rolls to ensure on-line information is accurate and to evaluate if inventory meets customer needs.
  • Complete various reports and assignments as needs to meet the needs of the business.

Job Qualifications

  • Participation in a Bachelor’s degree program in business administration, communications, supply chain management, or a closely related field.

Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent planning, organization, communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy to a working skills level – proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to and master web-based support applications.
