About The Role Luxoft is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with a strong background in Java development to join our dynamic team working on a long-term project in the Oil & Gas domain. This role involves developing and supporting enterprise-level information systems designed to interpret geological and geophysical data, primarily leveraging cloud technologies and microservices architecture. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with geophysicists, data scientists, and other software engineers to translate complex scientific requirements into robust, efficient software solutions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on innovative projects utilizing the latest technologies such as Java, Eclipse RCP, cloud computing, GPU acceleration, and microservices, all within an agile environment that promotes continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Java development, demonstrating a strong grasp of Java Core principles. Prior experience with desktop application development using Swing, SWT, or Eclipse RCP is essential. Candidates should have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, and a proactive approach to learning and adopting new technologies. Familiarity with the Oil & Gas industry, C++, or OSGI frameworks will be considered advantageous. Proficiency in English at the B2 Upper Intermediate level is required to facilitate effective communication within international teams.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with geophysicists, data scientists, and software engineers to translate scientific domain requirements into robust on-premise or cloud-based software solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications for geophysical and geological data analysis, interpretation, and visualization, including seismic, horizon, fault, and velocity models.
- Present architectural designs and technical proposals to the architecture review board, ensuring alignment with project goals and standards.
- Break down development tasks into manageable units and create clear, achievable implementation roadmaps.
- Implement and optimize complex computation algorithms to enhance processing efficiency and accuracy.
- Design and develop both thin and thick client applications that seamlessly interact with cloud-based microservices architecture.
- Ensure high code quality through rigorous unit testing, code reviews, security hardening, and continuous integration practices.
- Provide technical support and lead troubleshooting sessions to resolve issues promptly, ensuring smooth operation of the application.
- Mentor junior developers, fostering a collaborative learning environment and contributing to architectural and implementation decisions.
- Embrace Agile and Scrum methodologies by delivering working solutions at the end of each sprint, participating actively in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
