Reports to: Client Services Manager

About the Position: Contract | On-site The Project Manager role specialize in providing technical support and consulting to clients in a particular industry or industries. This position will deal with all aspects of client services on a proactive and problem-solving basis.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Maintain familiarity with regulations/industry-specific needs and developments in clients’ industries;
  • Adhere to ALS Client Service Guidelines as provided in the Client Service Manual and National and Local Standard Operating Procedures including Quality procedures;
  • Remain current on developments in clients’ industries;
  • Receive and respond to client calls, e-mails and requests within timeframe outlined in the client service manual or in the timeframe requested by client;
  • Provide technical advice regarding analytical programs, tests, sampling, sample handling, prices and testing requirements;
  • Prepare, review and approve data reports and invoices;
  • Track client projects on the LIMS system and provide status updates to the lab manager or clients when requested;
  • Immediately after login, review chain of custody /analytical request forms received in login and modify login requests if required so that the laboratory performs the proper test;
  • Prepare, issue, and follow up of higher quotes
  • Review, approve, and transmit data reports and invoices, including any custom client specific uploads and/or transmissions (EDDs, invoices, Watertrax, etc....);
  • Receive and upload sublet reports
  • Maintain communication with laboratory staff on turnaround times and relay appropriate information to clients;
  • Assess client needs, formulate technical approaches, and assist with proposal preparation and client sublet requirements;
  • Arrange and administer special project/business development initiatives;
  • Work with the Client Services Manager and Lab Manager to evaluate new work opportunities and plan for their implementation;
  • Meet with clients on a regular basis as per goals set out by ALS management;
  • Communicate information relative to customers, contracts, and status of opportunities to Lab Manager;
  • Coordinate and communicate with other areas (i.e. management, other laboratories, other analytical areas) on project status and problem resolution;
  • Prepare monthly reports on activities for the Lab Manager;
  • Train and/or coordinate activities for other staff as required by management;
  • Represent the lab at meetings/conferences/trade shows as required;
  • Performs all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all company policies and procedures;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent English comprehension and communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook), with basic knowledge of computers;
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skill is an asset;
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment;
  • Well organized, with the ability to meet strict deadlines;
  • Analytical and process oriented, with the ability to critically think in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
  • Commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required;
  • B.Sc. or technical diploma in related field an asset;
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a fast-paced, production, and/or preparation environment;
  • 5 years’ experience working with clients/customer service;
  • Valid unrestricted license for personal vehicle use applicable in the province/territory;
  • No major driving violations and no more than two minor violations/incidents.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs and carry for short distances;
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant odours.

Our Benefits Include:

  • An estimated hourly pay of $33.05 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
