About the role

NPC Northland Builders is seeking a Forperson to support Northland Properties’ hotel renovation in Revelstoke, BC.

The Foreperson (Foreman or Forewoman) will be responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in an efficient manner, assisting in managing construction schedules, coordinating crew activities, overseeing the requirements of tools and materials required for the job three months in advance, and maintaining performance and quality standards. Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Oversee daily operations at a worksite to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Produce schedules and monitor attendance of the crew.
  • Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans, allocating general and daily responsibilities.
  • Supervise and train workers and tradespeople.
  • Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.
  • Assist with recruitment.
  • Interpret plans, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget.
  • Provide technical assistance to field staff and coordinate project requirements with various team members, including the Site Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Designer, and Fabrication Shop.
  • Oversee and ensure the timely procurement, delivery, and storage of construction materials and equipment.
  • Ensure construction work meets established standards and specifications, conducting inspections and taking corrective actions when necessary.
  • Resolve problems when they arise, addressing concerns and providing regular updates on progress to managers.
  • Adapt to changes in project scope, timelines, or requirements, effectively communicating these changes to the project team and adjusting work schedules and plans as needed.
  • Review and enforce on-site safety regulations throughout all stages, including reviewing individual crew daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for compliance and attending weekly crew safety meetings to promote engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices, implementing measures to minimize environmental impact and managing waste disposal.
  • Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent Northland Properties.
  • Performs other duties as required

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of prior experience in similar roles with leadership and planning responsibilities in the construction industry.
  • Strong carpentry, plumbing, and electrical knowledge.
  • Previous experience in Hotel and Restaurant Construction and Renovations.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) guidelines.
  • Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day working in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms
  • Must be able to climb scaffoldings.
