Unit Assistant
About the role
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Unit Assistant performs a variety of supportive functions for the patients and staff. The incumbent performs routine tasks to maintain the cleanliness of the clinical work environment. Staff work with cytotoxic and hazardous medications on a regular basis. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and training are provided.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide Course
- Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting and transporting of patients, samples, and equipment to other areas
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or ability to obtain same prior to employment
- Satisfactory employment record
- Must be able to legally work in Canada
Will be assessed during the interview process:
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service and problem-solving skills
- Excellent English comprehension with both written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt to stressful work situations
Preferred:
- Previous experience in ambulatory and/ or inpatient care setting
- Basic computer skills
Asset:
- Ability to speak French
