Position Overview:
The Project Management & Process Improvement Intern will play a dual role within the Siemens CS-RI project team, supporting core project management activities while contributing to structured process improvement initiatives across the organization. This role offers exposure to cross-functional operations, process mapping, stakeholder coordination, and continuous improvement efforts in a complex project environment.
What will you do?
- Support day-to-day project management activities, including reporting, tracking, meeting coordination, and document control
- Assist with maintaining project schedules, dashboards, action trackers, and internal status updates
- Conduct process discovery sessions with functional groups including Track, Signals, Inventory / EAM, Finance, and Health & Safety
- Build and maintain a master process register documenting process owners, stakeholders, inputs/outputs, and current documentation status
- Support assessment and prioritization of processes based on complexity, pain points, cross-functional dependencies, and automation potential
- Help organize and facilitate process mapping and ideation workshops with cross-functional stakeholders
- Develop current-state, future-state, and ideal-state process maps, including RACI matrices where applicable
- Analyze automation opportunities and support recommendations on tooling, implementation complexity, effort savings, and business value
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, slide decks, and briefing materials for workshops and project reviews
- Support procurement, materials tracking, onboarding coordination, and ad hoc research or benchmarking activities as required
- Contribute to final project handoff materials, including process maps, automation recommendations, lessons learned, and next-step roadmaps
What will you need to Succeed?
- Currently enrolled in a Business, Engineering, Project Management, Operations, or related post-secondary program
- Strong interest in project management, process improvement, and operational excellence
- Interest in transportation, rail, infrastructure, or complex project delivery environments
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and functional groups in a fast-paced project environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including note-taking, documentation, and presentation support
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Comfortable working with schedules, trackers, dashboards, and structured documentation
- Ability to take initiative, manage competing priorities, and proactively flag risks, issues, or blockers
- Familiarity with process mapping, Lean principles, automation tools, Power BI, Visio, or similar platforms is an asset
Hourly rate is commensurate with experience, and ranges between $25.00 CAD - $30.00 CAD.
