Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Assist in the operation of a regional airport facility and fixed based operations (FBO) through maintaining grounds, facilities and equipment of the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations, Provincial and Federal Regulations as well as internal operational practices and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not listed in order of priority)

Perform daily inspections of the airport property, buildings and systems in accordance with all airport manuals and complete detailed checklists; identify deficiencies and requirements for remedial action.

Test airport lighting, UNICOM and security systems, ensure accuracy of airport weather/meteorological equipment on a daily basis, and note deficiencies for remedial action.

Maintain daily records of aircraft movements, types of aircraft using the airport.
-
Issue authorized NOTAM’s (Notice to airmen) and AMSCR’s (Aircraft Movement Surface Condition Reports) as required.
-
Inspect condition of the airport operational areas on a daily basis, or more often during poor weather conditions and special events, to identify any security or safety hazards and issue advisories as required. Further, the employee shall take corrective action to resolve any hazards or security issues and report accordingly.

Operate the Airport’s UNICOM radio service and disseminate the Automatic Weather Observation Station information to provide traffic and weather advisories to pilots.

Provide airport information concerning the airport facilities, services and operational status to users, tenants, and public and government agencies.

Follow and implement the Airport Emergency Response Plan in situations defined within.
-
Follow airport operational procedures as defined in all airport/FBO operational manuals.

Assist in maintaining airport wildlife control as outlined in the airport wildlife control procedures.
-
Assist in minor airport activity record-keeping and on-site administrative duties as assigned from time to time.
-
Maintain and promote a professional image for the airport by ensuring a clean and neat personal appearance, in uniformed attire, tidy public areas, and courteous and helpful service for airport users and visitors.

Carry out any snow removal and landscape maintenance activities as required operating heavy, medium and small industrial equipment. Also conduct building janitorial and building/facility repair.

Operate and maintain various airport and FBO equipment for the purpose of airport and FBO operations including but not limited to minor airfield lighting repairs.

Provide customer service through aircraft marshalling, hotel reservations, catering requests, ground transportation and assign aircraft parking etc.

Provide ramp services such as baggage/cargo handling, lavatory service, ground power unit, aircraft towing, etc.
-
Operate and assist in maintaining the airport fuel dispensing systems and mobile fuel truck in accordance with all airport/FBO operational manuals and checklists as well as provide fuel to aircraft.

Carry out basic accounting through the operation of the Point of Sale System.

Conduct aircraft de-icing.
-
Conduct other duties as may be assigned by airport management, including redeployment in emergency situations.

Comply with federal and county occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS AND CERTIFICATION

Enrolled in a minimum two (2) year degree/diploma in Aviation Management preferred. This job may be considered for educational equivalency in accordance with County Policy.

Radio Operators License considered an asset.

Firearms License considered an asset.
-
Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation, policies, and regulations for the operation of a federally certified airport.

Demonstrated ability to analyze the inter-relationships of a wide variety of airport operations.
-
Knowledge of airport infrastructure and required maintenance procedures.
-
Good communications skills, interpersonal and written.
-
Ability to work with minimal supervision and to use independent judgment where warranted.
-
Demonstrated experience working in a Windows environment and associated Office software including specific knowledge of Excel for data manipulation and summarization.

Valid G class drivers license and access to reliable vehicle.
-
Criminal records check that is less than 6 months old at time of hire.
EXPERIENCE
- Having worked in an airport environment would be an asset.
