About the role

Position Summary and Objectives

The Senior Research Analyst, Investments reports to the Managing Partner and is responsible for leading investment research and analysis in support of the creation of investment theses for funds, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), co-investments, and joint venture strategies, incorporating an understanding of private equity deal terms, capital structures, and investor return requirements.

The role focuses on developing data-driven, defensible investment narratives by synthesizing market research, capital markets analysis, and underwriting insights. This position plays a key role in shaping new investment strategies, identifying thematic opportunities, and supporting capital formation by producing high-quality research and analytical materials aligned with the firm’s investment objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of investment theses for new and existing funds, SPVs, co-investments, and joint venture structures
  • Conduct in-depth market, sector, and geographic research to identify attractive risk-adjusted investment opportunities and assess their suitability for different investor profiles and capital sources
  • Analyze macroeconomic, capital markets, and real estate cycle trends to inform strategic positioning and timing
  • Support underwriting activities by developing market assumptions, demand and supply analyses, and comparable transaction research, with consideration for leverage, equity structures, and downside protection relevant to private equity investments
  • Prepare written investment narratives, strategy papers, and thematic research to support capital deployment and fundraising efforts, including clear articulation of return profiles, risk factors, and investor alignment.
  • Collaborate closely with the investment and transactions teams to align research insights with execution strategies, deal structures, and capital-raising objectives
  • Evaluate potential investment themes across asset classes, capital structures, and return profiles
  • Maintain and enhance proprietary research tools, databases, benchmarks, and market trackers
  • Review and synthesize third-party research, broker materials, appraisals, and consultant reports to validate assumptions and conclusions
  • Contribute to investor-facing strategy materials, pitch content, and responses to research-driven diligence inquiries by providing market context, investment rationale, and insight into investor expectations
  • Monitor portfolio-level and market performance trends to refine and evolve investment theses over time
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to analysts on research methodologies, analytical rigor, and presentation standards
  • Perform other related responsibilities as requested from time to time

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, real estate, or a related field
  • CFA designation, MBA, MFin, or other relevant professional designation considered a strong asset

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in real estate investment research, capital markets, or investment analysis
  • Demonstrated experience developing investment theses, strategy materials, or thematic research with exposure to private equity deal terms, fund or SPV structures, and capital-raising considerations
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate fundamentals across multiple asset classes and geographies
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with ARGUS Enterprise considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis concepts including IRR, EM, NPV, sensitivity analysis, and downside risk assessment
  • Strong knowledge of macroeconomic and capital markets dynamics and their impact on real estate investments, investor allocation behavior, and capital availability
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling, and decision-oriented insights
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight timelines
  • Experience working closely with senior investment professionals and external stakeholders
