The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an**, Senior manager, Project estimating and Valuation** to join our Governance and project controls Team.
This is a permanent position.
As the Senior manager, Project estimating and Valuation, you will be responsible for CapEx estimates and economic valuations for Project Studies in Canada and Brazil, aligning with the company's strategy and business plan. You will optimize projects to achieve significant CapEx reductions and meet hurdle rates. Leading Base Metals Project Estimating and Change Management, you will provide guidance and training to project managers and senior leaders. You will implement a standard estimating tool and database, ensuring proper benchmarking and digital resource utilization.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Lead the projects development to achieve the expected results to unlock value within the project portfolio to support VBM's accelerated growth strategy in copper in the South Atlantic which is the base of copper growth in the company.
- Capture all potential project optimizations to guarantee the confirmation of the desired CapEx reduction (around 30%) and therefore the achievement of VBM`s hurdle rate (13% for brownfield scopes and 14.5% for greenfield scopes).
- Lead the Base Metals Project Estimating and Change Management definitions and standardization, providing guidance and training to project managers and other senior leaders across the organization (FEL1 to Execution).
- Create and update comprehensive project estimates, guaranteeing their consistency, alignment with company`s standards and maximization of project value.
- Implement a standard estimating tool and database for projects within the company, guaranteeing the proper benchmarking and use of digital resources.
- Guarantee that VBM projects are developed and executed using market benchmarking and competitive engineering and CapEx indicators.
- Build financial models to forecast project costs and revenues, incorporating various scenarios and sensitivity analyses.
- Coordinate the project economic valuation, considering inputs and collaboration with several other areas in the company, aiming to maximize the project return and therefore the company`s results.
- Communicate with key stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, and local communities, to gather input and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date documentation of all estimating and valuation activities, ensuring that all information is accessible for future reference.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project controls and overall project performance.
- Lead and mentor a highly qualified multicultural team, creating a health environmental with full alignment with Vale Base Metals`s values.
- Promote and maintain a structure that sustains credibility and trust in the technical, cultural, legal and regulatory spheres.
About You
Education:
- Bachelors Degree
- certifications in Project Management: PMI (PMP, PfMP, PMOCP or RMP) or AACE (CCP, CEP, EVP, PSP or PRMP preferred
Experience:
- 15+ years’ of work experience
Skills:
- Advanced English
- Strong knowledge of Project Controls (Planning, Estimating, Risk Management, Cost Control and Risk Management).
- Experience with Project Control Systems (SAP, Aconex, Primavera P6, PRISM etc.).
- Experienced decision maker as part of a multi-functional management team, superior problem-solving skills and experience working for a large multinational organization (minimum 10 years).
- Experience in leading a multicultural team.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Results oriented mindset.
- Flexibility for domestic and international travel.
