The Organization
King’s is a Catholic university college affiliated with Western University. The Role
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President is the chief executive officer of the College and is responsible for the operational leadership of King’s. The President is accountable for ensuring the academic and financial health of the institution and advancing its mission to provide a transformative liberal arts education grounded in the Catholic tradition. In collaboration with senior leadership, the President will lead planning, policy, and academic governance activities, and represent King’s with government, the broader Western University community, donors, alumni, and the Catholic Church in Canada.
The President advocates for King’s distinct identity, fostering academic innovation, operational sustainability, and a strong sense of belonging among students, faculty, and staff. This is a pivotal moment in the College’s evolution, requiring bold, forward-looking leadership that reflects the enduring values of Catholic higher education.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategic Vision and Institutional Leadership: Provide bold and thoughtful leadership that articulates King’s long-term vision, builds consensus, and advances its mission.
Academic and Student Experience Excellence: Champion an outstanding student experience rooted in academic rigor, holistic support, and experiential learning. Support academic planning and faculty engagement through strong collaboration with the Vice-President and Academic Dean and commitment to academic freedom and scholarly excellence.
Catholic Identity and Mission: Uphold and express the Catholic intellectual tradition in a way that invites participation from a diverse community. Serve as a moral and mission-driven leader on campus, fostering inclusive dialogue and ensuring that the College’s commitment to dignity and social justice is reflected in practice and policy.
Community and Church Engagement: Strengthen relationships with Western University, the Diocese of London, alumni, donors, and external partners. Act as a primary liaison with the Catholic Church in Canada and work to enhance King’s public profile locally, nationally, and globally.
Operational Stewardship and Advancement: Oversee the College’s financial health and administrative functions in collaboration with the senior leadership team. Lead fundraising, philanthropy, and advancement efforts, while cultivating a culture of responsible stewardship, accountability, and service.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a principled and visionary leader, motivated by purpose, committed to inclusive education, and deeply aligned with the mission of King’s. You bring senior administrative experience in post-secondary education or a comparable mission-driven organization. You are known for your strategic thinking, transparent decision-making, and ability to lead teams with empathy, clarity, and courage.
You are prepared to represent the unique identity of King’s, including its commitment to holistic student development in alignment with its faith-based roots. You are committed to engaging meaningfully with the College’s intellectual, moral, and spiritual dimensions. You are a skilled communicator and advocate, with a record of fostering trust and building strong relationships with diverse community members.
Qualifications and Experience
While no one candidate is likely to meet all criteria equally, the following qualifications are desired.
- A terminal degree (e.g. PhD, EdD, MBA, or equivalent) and/or a record of academic accomplishment suitable for appointment at a senior level in a university setting
- Demonstrated understanding of the values that guide faith-based post-secondary institutions
- Experience in strategic planning, academic and operational leadership, and institutional governance
- Strong fiscal management and budgeting skills, with experience optimizing resource allocation and operations in a complex organization
- Understanding of global engagement and international priorities in higher education
- Knowledge of or experience with university affiliations, consortia, or federated models
- A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success
- Proven capacity in public advocacy, government relations, fundraising, and community partnerships
