We are searching for a Specialist, Communication & Reporting in our Victoria, BC office.
In this role, you'll be the central point of contact for high-profile reporting and communications, transforming complex investment data into compelling narratives for a variety of stakeholders including clients and senior management. Working directly with senior leaders across our global offices, you'll manage multiple high-priority deliverables under tight timelines while driving operational efficiency across the department.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Specialist, Communication & Reporting is part of the Capital Markets & Credit Investments administration team and is responsible for developing and supporting the department's reports and presentations for senior leadership and clients, by gathering pertinent information and ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
This role serves as the main point of contact for Capital Markets & Credit Investments communication and reporting requests, utilizing their expertise to determine relevant information while handling sensitive data with sound judgement.
The incumbent will play a crucial role in driving efficiency and effectiveness within the Capital Markets & Credit Investments team by closely collaborating with senior leaders and providing expertise and support to other BCI departments. This role will also support the administrative team on an as needed basis to ensure business as usual for our investment teams. Collaborating in person is an essential part of this role.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Capital Markets & Credit Investments (CM&CI) department manages C$165B of Capital Markets & Credit Investments (56% of total net AUM of BCI). The department invests globally across Credit, Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Absolute Return Strategies, with investment teams located in BCI's global offices in Victoria, Vancouver, New York, and London. As a leader in responsible investing, CM&CI actively integrates ESG factors into investment analysis and decision-making processes across all strategies.
WHAT YOU BRING (Qualifications)
- A university or college degree or diploma
- 3 years of experience within an investment or finance organization
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, and other common office software applications
- Experience in a coordination role managing the assembly of multiple complex deliverables with expedited timelines
- Demonstrated ability to edit and synthesize complex topics in order to make the information digestible for a range of audiences in reports and other communications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong tact, interpersonal skills and an aptitude for stakeholder management
- Strong ability to remain calm and collaborative under pressure
- Ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple competing high-level deliverables
- An ability to manage and influence good relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Strong attention to detail for accuracy
- Ability to take initiative and responsibility for work and perform as a team player
- A professional and discrete demeanor; with experience triaging requests and providing point of contact support to manage access to the team
Preferrable:
- CFA Foundations Course or equivalent certification (or in progress)
- Understanding of institutional investment portfolios, including equities, fixed income, hedge funds/liquid alternatives, and private markets, with an understanding of underlying investment strategies and their alignment with clients' investment objectives.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Provides quality materials to the senior leadership team of Capital Markets and Credit Investments by synthesizing materials for high level initiatives and presentations to Client Boards, BCI’s Board of Directors, and associations
- Develops key relationships and is the primary point of contact and respondent for all Public Market communication requests (both ad hoc and regular) from other BCI departments and external parties, specifically between the Client Investor Relations and the Finance Departments and Capital Markets and Credit Investments
- Prioritizes responses and ensures requests are clearly defined, and timelines are achievable
- Prepares, reviews and edits correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and quarterly reports (the quarterly Client Investment Report) for our clients including WorkSafe Accident Fund, Interplan Investment Committee, Municipal Pension Plan, Public Service Pension Plan and more
- Through an understanding of the strategies, portfolios and activities in Capital Markets and Credit Investments, influences the messaging used by other internal stakeholders as it relates to Capital Markets and Credit Investments
- Collaborates with the Capital Markets and Credit Investments senior leadership team, and ensures accuracy within tight timelines
- Works with the EVP & Global Head, Capital Markets and Credit Investments on client and board presentations, drafts speaking notes, and oversees the EVP’s involvement in CIR-related requests
- Develops and maintains processes relating to Capital Markets and Credit Investments requests for information and will assist in the development and implementation of procedures
- Practices continual learning for the Capital Markets and Credit Investments investment industry, understanding new strategies
- Leads and/or participates in special projects as directed by the Capital Markets and Credit Investments’ leadership team
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
This role will be based in our office in downtown Victoria, BC.
SALARY RANGE
The annualized base salary range for this role is CAD $90,000 - $109,000.
