About the role
Langara College Chief Information Officer
Langara is a college that prioritizes sustainability, inclusion, and community engagement, with Indigenization as the essential link connecting us all. We are a public college located in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam First Nation. We are honoured to carry the name sn ə w ̓ ey əɬ lel ə m ̓ , meaning “house of teachings,” which was gifted to us by Musqueam. This name reflects our deep commitment to learning, community, and respectful relationships.
sn ə w ̓ ey əɬ lel ə m ̓ Langara College provides University, Career, and Continuing Studies education to more than 23,000 students annually. With more than 1,700 courses and 130 programs, Langara’s expansive academic breadth and depth allows students of all ages, backgrounds, and life stages to choose their own educational path.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Administration and Finance, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing Langara’s digital, data, and technology strategy in alignment with institutional goals. As both a strategic advisor and operational leader, the CIO ensures that information and technology services enable academic excellence, administrative efficiency, and an exceptional student experience.
The CIO provides leadership for the planning, governance, and evolution of Langara’s digital ecosystem—including enterprise systems, data platforms, and technology infrastructure. With oversight of major initiatives and emerging technologies, the CIO drives service delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement in support of the College’s mission and long-term sustainability. In partnership with executive leadership, faculty, staff, and students, the CIO champions technology as a key enabler of institutional success—enhancing user experience, delivering value, and building digital capacity.
In addition to leading the IT function, the CIO plays a key role in modernizing service delivery and governance models, advancing enterprise integration, and strengthening cyber resilience. They are responsible for elevating the strategic value of IT while building capacity, fostering a sustainable technology workforce, and enabling innovation in a complex, evolving environment.
The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking, enterprise-minded technology executive who brings a demonstrated ability to align digital strategy with organizational values and long-term goals. They have led technology portfolios in complex, multi-partner environments and possess the agility to support both enterprise-wide transformation and day-to-day service excellence. A strategic thinker and collaborative leader, they are skilled at building trust and fostering partnerships. They work effectively with internal groups, such as academic and administrative leaders, to advance initiatives that support teaching, learning, and service delivery.
The successful candidate brings a strong service orientation and a commitment to delivering digital solutions that enhance user experience, institutional performance, and long-term resilience. They are experienced in leading complex initiatives such as ERP integration, enterprise architecture modernization, and cloud transformation, and are equally capable of supporting governance reform and strengthening digital resilience. With a proven ability to lead institution-wide initiatives and build alignment across the organization, the successful candidate will be well positioned to advance Langara’s digital future.
The targeted salary range for this position is $134,660 – $179,546 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
