About the role
Transdev Canada is hiring an Apprentice Mechanic to support our School Bus division in Calgary.

What you’ll do
- Actively participate in the maintenance and repair of various vehicles within the school bus fleet.
- Diagnose and assist with all phases of vehicle and equipment service and repair under the supervision of a Journeyperson, including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, clutches, and related systems.
- Assist with preventive maintenance inspections, seasonal readiness work, and scheduled servicing to help keep buses safe, compliant, and available for service.
- Support inspections and basic maintenance of school-bus safety systems and auxiliary equipment, including warning lights, stop arm systems, heaters, defrosters, and other required safety equipment.
- Complete work orders properly and accurately, and maintain records of all maintenance work completed, including parts and supplies used.
- Review driver-reported defects, assist with follow-up repairs, and communicate findings to the Lead Mechanic or supervisor as required.
- Perform routine servicing tasks such as lubrication, fluid checks, filter changes, battery service, tire work, and general shop support under supervision.
- Move vehicles safely between the yard, shop, and work areas.
- Evaluate completed work prior to vehicle release and seek approval where required.
- Notify the supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and the corrective action taken.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment, including tools, work areas, and parts storage.
- Support roadside or yard-based service calls and operational fleet needs as required.
- Actively participate in technical training, apprenticeship progression, and ongoing development opportunities under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Adhere to Transdev’s standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other responsibilities as requested or required.

What you bring
- Registered Apprentice in Automotive Service Technician.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
- Appropriate mechanic’s tool set.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Strong computer skills and comfort working with digital maintenance systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to work assigned shifts.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
- Experience working on buses, commercial vehicles, or fleet equipment is an asset.
Your location & schedule
- This is a full-time position based in Calgary, Alberta, supporting our School Bus division.
- The work schedule consists of 40 hours per week.
- The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, based on operational needs.
