Job Description: The Endoscopy Department is a high activity, high volume unit. The Endoscopes that are being used are fragile medical devices and the skills required to prevent damage to the equipment, requires the assistant to be meticulous and diligent in their practice. They must follow IPAC guidelines/principles and vendor appropriate cleaning practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will function as part of the Endoscopy Team, but they play an integral role in supporting flow. Most of the duties will entail preparing the procedure room with equipment and supplies as per procedure requirements, in collaboration with nursing staff. Understanding the procedures and knowing the different types of equipment needed, will determine their successful integration into the team and their ability to support operations. Responsibilities include but is not limited to assisting nursing staff with pre procedure scope and room set-up, post procedure scope pre-cleaning for reprocessing; cleaning of equipment and stretchers in collaboration with housekeeping; cleaning rooms between patient procedures; transporting patients as required by the Endoscopy team; stocking procedure rooms with supplies as required and other related duties as required. Qualifications: -Grade 12 education, or equivalent -Medical terminology an asset -Excellent oral and written English communication skills -Minimum one year hospital work experience preferred -Recent experience with preparation of medical supplies and equipment in a patient care environment preferred -Experience working in an endoscopy environment preferred -Ability to meet the physical demands of the job -A positive work and attendance record is essential Internal Candidates who believe they possess the necessary qualifications and experience for this position and who have been in their current position for at least six (6) months are encouraged to apply. Requirements
Candidates must have a Grade 12 education or equivalent and the ability to meet the physical demands of the role. Previous hospital experience and familiarity with medical equipment preparation are preferred.
