Participates in quality improvement or research activities with IPC team, departments and groups within area. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No Education * Degree in Nursing/relevant Health Sciences Degree acceptable to the Employer Licenses * Infection Control Certificate (CIC) * Valid Class 5 driver's license Other Education & Training * Infection Control Course Knowledge & Abilities * Proficient in the operation of word processing, spreadsheet and power point * Knowledge of infectious diseases * Knowledge of & able to utilize, principles of program development & teaching * Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills * Works independently, effectively and cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team * Ability to communicate components of infection control to staff and patients * Knowledge to identify, investigate & control outbreaks of infectious diseases * Possesses knowledge of and has job related experience in health care * Knowledge in epidemiologic principles, statistics and microbiology * Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. What you’ll do

The practitioner maintains an effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program and provides training and education on infectious diseases. They also act as an expert resource for internal and external stakeholders while participating in quality improvement and research activities.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a degree in Nursing or a relevant Health Sciences field and possess an Infection Control Certificate (CIC). A valid Class 5 driver's license is required, along with knowledge of epidemiologic principles and infectious disease control.
