HDR is seeking a Mechanical BIM Designer to support the delivery of complex building and infrastructure projects across Canada and North America. In this role, you will contribute directly to the development of Mechanical models, drawings, and coordinated design packages, working within an integrated, multi-disciplinary team environment. You will be actively involved from early design through construction, supporting the production of high-quality, coordinated deliverables aligned with project requirements and schedules. Reporting to the Mechanical Section Manager or the manager’s delegates, you will work alongside Mechanical engineers, and other discipline leads, to develop and maintain BIM models, prepare detailed drawings, and support coordination with architectural, structural, MEP, and civil teams. The role requires a strong understanding of Mechanical systems, constructability, and BIM workflows within a collaborative delivery environment. In this role, you will also play a key part in translating Mechanical design concepts into coordinated, constructible models and drawings. The quality and clarity of your modeling work will directly influence how these Mechanical systems are realized in the field. Our project portfolio spans a diverse range of sectors, including educational, civic, defense, data centers, healthcare, industrial, water/wastewater, and commercial developments. Projects are located across North America. In the role of Mechanical BIM Designer, we'll count on you to: Work for the Mechanical discipline, under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer, or other technical professional Be responsible for the discipline model and will generate the BIM elements, based on the Level of Development (LOD) outlined in the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP) and project scope. Create and maintain the discipline model, systems, content, and overall digital delivery output for that discipline Rely on the engineer, or other technical professionals, to provide direction and guidance throughout the project duration but will be technically competent with the discipline and software used to produce the designs identified in the Digital Delivery requirements Be proactive in communicating BIM progress, clashes, and issues, and in assessing, planning, and communicating modeling workload, priorities, and schedule impacts. Interpret Mechanical sketches and design intent, and translate them into detailed drawings in accordance with company drafting standards. Continuously improve drawing clarity, readiness, and communication of design information, and organize drawings in a clear and logical manner. Accurately model the piping, ductwork, plumbing and equipment BIM elements in the correct special constraints of the modeling environment, using the current 3D software Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, & diagrams of the design within the project scope, schedule, and budget, using the current 3D software Maintain the discipline model including project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, match-lines, views, and sheets Produce discipline specific documentation with accurate annotations on all modeling output Monitor, improve, and maintain company standards and model health Coordinate the design with other discipline models through Design Reviews and the 3D Coordination process Assist or execute any additional Digital Delivery requirements identified on the project Our ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation, collaboration, new experiences, opportunities and exceeding client expectations. Selection Process: Please note that shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Revit skills assessment to demonstrate their proficiency with Revit software focused on typical Mechanical project workflows. Preferred Qualifications Proficient in Revit Proficient in AutoCAD Experience with A/E consulting firms Data Centre, Semiconductor, Healthcare, Laboratory or Sports facilities experience Adaptability to evolving BIM technologies and the ability to implement automation workflows will be considered an asset Other Job Details Further, the position requires: Compliance with HDR and, as applicable, contractor safety policies and procedures. Potential attendance at job sites to support design and construction activities. Required Qualifications Technical degree or a minimum of 3 years related industry experience Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools Experience with 3D Coordination tools Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential Intermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts What We Believe HDR is our company. Requirements
