The Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation Health Centre is seeking a reliable and compassionate PartTime Medical Transport/Driver to provide transportation services for community members for health-related travel needs. This position plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of the Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation by ensuring safe and timely transportation for our community members. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide medical transport services to community members for appointments, medical procedures, and other healthcare-related travel. Ensure the safe transport of passengers, following all safety and traffic regulations. Assist clients, as needed, in getting into and out of the vehicle safely. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure it is in good working condition, including regular checks and basic maintenance. Record and track transportation schedules and activities as required. Communicate effectively with the Health Centre Manager and other staff regarding transportation needs and schedule changes. Follow confidentiality and privacy regulations when dealing with sensitive client information. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid driver’s license (Class 5 or equivalent) with a clean driving record. Experience in driving and transporting individuals, particularly those with medical needs, is an asset. Ability to maintain a positive, friendly, and respectful attitude toward community members. Good knowledge of the local area and routes. Ability to manage time effectively and work independently. Must pass a background check, including vulnerable sector screening. First Aid and CPR certification is an asset. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift or assist with mobility aids, when necessary. HOURS OF WORK: This is a part-time position, with hours varying depending on the number of medical transport requests. Flexible scheduling may be available based on availability and transportation needs. COMPENSATION: Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications.
