This Opportunity The Senior Associate role is an opportunity for accomplished technical leaders to take full ownership of high‑impact projects and see the results of their decisions first‑hand. In this role, you will lead complex projects, drive strong delivery and financial performance, and serve as a trusted day‑to‑day leader for clients and project teams. In addition to an exciting career filled with meaningful work, we offer: • Competitive salary • Flexible hours and half day Fridays (all year round) • Comprehensive Group Health Benefits Program, including a Health Spending Account • Group Retirement Savings Plan (Employer and Employee Contributions) • Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP) • Purchase Time off Program • Transit Subsidy Program • Wide variety of community and social events • Great Place to Work-Certified™ • Best Workplaces™ in Canada • Best Workplaces for Inclusion™ • Best Workplaces for Professional Services™ • Best Workplaces for Mental Wellness™ What You’ll Do • Leads the delivery of complex often multidisciplinary projects across the full lifecycle, ensuring scope, quality, schedule and financial outcomes are achieved. • Own project financial performance by actively managing fees, resourcing and delivery risk to remain within approved budgets. • Act as the single point of accountability on complex projects, leading client communication, issue resolution and overall delivery coordination. • Support team level financial reviews, analyzing revenue versus project costs and overall financial performance. • Track Project Information Forms (PIFs) against staffing plans to confirm resourcing assumptions and maintain financial alignment. • provide input to annual performance reviews for project managers and project team engineers and designers and participate in performance review delivery and calibration discussions. • Support recruitment efforts by screening candidates, participating in interviews and providing timely hiring recommendations in collaboration with human resources. • Lead or coordinate proposal and qualification submissions in collaboration with shared service and technical leadership. • Direct RFP strategy and response development, including client interviews and pursuit presentations, to support successful wins. • Lead or actively contribute to Smith + Andersen committees, delivering measurable outcomes on internal priorities and initiatives. • Represent Smith + Andersen at external events, forums and industry engagement, promoting firm services and supporting national initiatives. • Lead complex client engagements, demonstrating strong credibility, sound judgment, and consistent delivery performance. • Develop and maintain a portfolio of clients who seek out the Senior Associate for repeat work and new project opportunities. Who You Are: • Demonstrated leadership presence and professional credibility; able to build and maintain trusted, long-term client and stakeholder relationships. • Strong analytical and risk-based judgment applied to complex technical decisions, scope, schedule and project financial performance. • Proven ability to professionally mentor, coach and develop others through constructive feedback, delegation and performance support. • Excellent communication and influencing skills to align multidisciplinary teams, manage expectations and drive timely decisions. • Ability to foster a high performance, inclusive team environment and contribute positively to office culture and firm initiatives. • Strong quality focus and accountability for outcomes; able to anticipate issues, resolve conflicts and escalate appropriately. • Strategic, client focused mindset with the ability to contribute to proposal/RFP development, positioning and pursuit success.
