Your New Role
As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you will prepare accurate cost estimates and bid documentation for a wide range of electrical construction projects. You’ll work closely with suppliers, clients, subcontractors, and the Chief Estimator to develop competitive pricing strategies and ensure estimates meet organizational standards at all project stages—from conceptual and schematic design through tender and construction. You’ll review design documents, perform detailed take-offs, assess project risks, and prepare final proposals. This position also includes mentoring junior estimators, maintaining estimating software and pricing databases, and representing the company professionally during meetings and site walkthroughs.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Certified Engineering Technologist, 309A Electrical License, or Electrical Certificate of Qualification preferred (Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.) Minimum 10 years of experience estimating electrical construction projects (industrial, commercial, institutional) Strong ability to estimate diverse project types and prepare complex proposals with minimal supervision Proficiency in estimating and quantity take-off software, including BlueBeam, Accubid, and Live Count Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints Solid knowledge of procurement procedures, accounting practices, and project administration Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Key Responsibilities
Review tender documents to ensure accuracy and compliance Analyze drawings, specifications, and related design documentation Identify design gaps and issue RFIs for clarification Perform pre‑bid risk assessments and develop installation strategies Provide value‑engineering recommendations to improve cost‑effectiveness Conduct detailed take-offs and organize quantities in estimating software Prepare material, labour, equipment, and job cost calculations Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for compliance and suitability Prepare scope letters and qualification notes Manage cost strategies from planning through construction Present estimates to internal teams and clients Build and maintain strong industry relationships Represent the company during site walkthroughs and design meetings Review estimates prepared by other team members Mentor and support new hires within the estimating department
Travel 0–20% travel may be required.
Working Conditions Site environments may include prolonged walking or standing, exposure to changing weather conditions, noise, and outdoor elements depending on the season.
