Req ID: 223305Location: Central Zone, Halifax Infirmary Robie Street Entrance - QEII Department: OPCZ Echo CardiologyType of Employment: Temporary Hourly FT long-assignment (100%) x 1 Union: NSGEU Healthcare PositionPosting Closing Date: 9-Jul-26About the Opportunity Echocardiography is the use of highly sophisticated ultrasound technology for the evaluation of cardiac anatomy, function and hemodynamics. The Cardiac Sonographer utilizes equipment using comprehensive specialized education and accepted protocols to obtain diagnostic recordings of cardiac ultrasound images and doppler hemodynamic data with indirect supervision from the cardiac physician. The Cardiac Sonographer evaluates and records pathological findings, obtains measurements and calculations, then prepares a summary of the findings which is later reviewed by the Echocardiologist for final reporting. The Cardiac Sonographer discusses exams with the Echocardiologist using PACS and recorded information; maintains accurate patient files; records appropriate and timely information in the computer; maintains a professional attitude; and practices good patient care at all times. Specialized sonography skills, clinical knowledge and experience are necessary for providing advanced practice service to the adult congenital population, tertiary and surgical programs, research programs and the clinical training of residents and student sonographers. Cardiac Sonography staff rotate between five Nova Scotia Health clinical sites on a weekly basis. Portable echocardiograms are provided for patient care units as needed. Cardiac Sonographers provide after hour call back service. The Cardiac Sonographer assists the Echocardiologist during transesophageal, dobutamine stress echo, exercise stress echo and contrast studies.About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Sonography Canada certification Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) licensure Current BLS certification Minimum of one year clinical experience preferred Experience in a tertiary care setting an asset Experience in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, TEE, Dobutamine Stress Echo, Exercise Stress Echo, and Research Echo preferred Experience with Philips Epiq and IntelliSpace Workstations an asset Experience with General Electric Vivid E95 an asset Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Long Assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly Approximtely 12 months On-call in a rotation for after hours and weekend coverage Travel to various sites will be required (DGH, Cobequid, Mumford Road, VG or the Halifax Infirmary (rotation)) Compensation and Benefits $43.56 - $54.45 hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
