About the position
Duties
- This position includes tasks of exercising horses, feeding, watering, grooming and hay management;
- Assisting staff with horse trip preparation and trailering horses and staff to trailheads;
- Tack organization, maintenance and care, training and staff mentoring and general ranch maintenance;
- Physically fit, ability to work independently and familiarity working with horses;
- Operating a tractor to feed round bales and harrow the pasture.

Youth Employment & Skills Strategy (YESS) Positions for the Banff Field UnitThe Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) is a Federal Government jobs initiative targeted at young Canadians aged 15 to 30. The purpose is to increase employment for youth, enabling them to gain work experience, skills, and to extend their networks. Who can ? To be eligible, you must be:
- Between 15 and 30 years old.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Obtain and maintain a reliability security clearance;
- Possession and maintenance of a valid class 5 driver's license or equivalent (Class L, N or other graduated licenses will not be accepted).
Operational Requirements
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
- Willing and able to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
- Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation;
- Willing and able to lift up to 50lbs, carry and load tools and equipment.

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education training and experience.

EXPERIENCE IN:
- Experience working with horses, horse care, riding and maintaining tack;
- Experience with general ranch maintenance;
- Experience with trailering horses and driving a large truck while towing a trailer.

- Knowledge of horse handling techniques and safe work practices.
ABILITIES:
