The role in a nutshell:

In this role you are the on-site lead responsible for managing and overseeing compliance with Glencore and government requirements, reporting directly to the Reclamation Manager for Eastern Canada. You will own health and safety, environmental and reclamation permit compliance, dam safety, water treatment plant operations, contractor and budget management, project delivery, stakeholder engagement and site maintenance. You will supervise all site staff and coordinate contractors and consultants to provide specialist support and extra capacity, while also offering technical assistance to other sites as required. Your role is to translate regulatory obligations and site plans into clear, practical actions that keep the site safe, compliant and operationally effective.

More specifically, you will be expected to:

Ensure sites meet or exceed Glencore and government health, safety and environmental requirements; participate in internal and external risk assessments to achieve compliance with Glencore FATAL HAZARD PROTOCOLs.

Ensure staff and contractors have adequate training, follow protocols, and receive site-specific safety and orientation training; assist in completion and approval of work permits.

Review, update and maintain all site-specific documents (Emergency Preparedness And Response Plan, Operation, Maintenance, Surveillance, Closure Management Manual, Lockout tagout procedures, Traffic Management Program, etc.) and perform adequacy reviews of regulatory reports for submission to government agencies.

Manage permit compliance: document all permitting activities, collect regulatory samples, review laboratory results, conduct site inspections (including dam safety), and prepare monitoring and reclamation reports to meet government requirements.

Provide technical expertise on environmental and geotechnical matters; perform technical review of consultant reports and coordinate/manage consultants and contractors for specialist work beyond site capability.

Lead dam safety management and coordinate consultants and government interactions for dam safety-related items to ensure regulatory compliance.

Oversee site surveillance and maintenance programs to ensure systems and equipment are inspected, calibrated, functioning correctly and subject to preventative maintenance (tailings dam, water collection and treatment systems, reclamation management).

Manage staff, contractors and the execution of projects: create and evaluate technical REQUEST FOR PROPOSALs, review and approve final work plans, ensure contractors adhere to defined scopes and Glencore HSEC requirements, and sign off final work products.

Develop and manage the annual site budget, approve invoices and site staff P-card purchases, and provide training, information and tools required to complete work safely and effectively.

Respond to and investigate unusual site conditions and emergency callouts (ranging from minor plant malfunctions to site-wide power outages); determine root cause and correct issues or engage appropriate contractors.

Decision-making authority includes daily site management, adequacy review of regulatory reports, management of the WTP coordinator, contractors and consultants (scope, flow, schedule), and capital expenditure recommendations; annual budgets and capital expenditures require review.

Do you have what it takes?

Community College degree in Environmental sciences, engineering technology or a related field. Undergraduate degree in Geosciences, Engineering, Environmental sciences or a related field considered a strong asset;

Eng. designation or registration as a Member-in-Training (MIT) is required.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in project and people management;

Minimum of 5 years' experience in environmental, millwright, electrical, mechanical, treatment process operation, mine reclamation is a strong asset;

Valid drivers licence;

Must be able to work at heights;

Highly organized with proven ability to create realistic schedules and flexibly re-prioritize or pivot at short notice;

Demonstrated people management skills, including team leadership, supervision and performance oversight;

Strong ability to prioritize issues under pressure and focus resources on the highest-risk items;

Practical problem-solver who defines corrective actions and mobilizes the right contractors or consultants to implement solutions;

Effective leader of multidisciplinary teams drawn from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds;

Broad, multidisciplinary understanding of mining-related environmental conditions and how those conditions affect the receiving environment;

Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with permitting processes, HSEC requirements and regulatory compliance management.

**Travel:**Minimum travel (2 times a year for a week)

Language: Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory. The knowledge of French is beneficial.

**Location:**On the Brunswick Mines Site, 30 mins from Bathurst, 5 days a week.
