Work Schedule: 10 months/year (September to June) – as required

Position Summary:
The Supply Designated Early Childhood Educators, in accordance with the Education Act, are responsible to work in collaboration and partnership with the classroom teacher to implement and set up developmentally appropriate activities for children enrolled in the kindergarten and extended day program. They will work in partnership with the teaching team to listen to, respond and provide guidance, feedback and/or resource support as deemed appropriate to the families.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Supply Designated Early Childhood Educators is responsible for the provision of the extended day kindergarten program in the school and:
- Maintains application of Health and Safety Standards
- Prepares, maintains, and supervises classroom and playground areas
- Supports students with independent washroom duties, dressing and lunchroom activities
- Communicates with their Supervisor and other staff on pertinent information concerning children and their families
- Listens, responds, and provides guidance to families, students and volunteers, in program planning, childcare, and community resources
- Prepares and handles food according to standardize recipe to ensure food quality, safety, and quantity when required
- Performs housekeeping and other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college
- A member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- One to Three years’ experience as an RECE in a childcare centre
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Full-Day Early Learning Program
- Related experience in planning and implementing age-appropriate programs is an asset
- Experience working with children and their families with developmental delays is preferred
- Ability, experience and skill in working as a member of a team
- Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents/caregivers, staff and the general public
- Understanding and commitment to confidentiality
- French language, additional languages preferred
- Basic computer literacy preferred
- Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
A combination of skills and experience will be considered. The successful candidates may need to lift up to 50 pounds.
