Job Summary
The Team The Dietary Services team is a small group of nine, including five Food Service Workers, three Chefs, and one Supervisor, who work together to provide food services to Burnaby Youth Custody and other client groups as necessary seven days per week. With a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support, this team is committed to serving wholesome meals and making a meaningful impact in the lives of youth.
The Role This Food Service Worker role prepares nutritious meals aligned with the Canada Food Guide using safe food‑handling practices to meet a wide range of dietary needs. There are some opportunities in this position to incorporate your creativity into menu design. In this role you will help ensure the youth have access to safe, balanced meals as food plays an important role in care and stability.
Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements
Certified in Food Safety Training Program.
Preference may be given to applicants with:

Experience orienting new employees.

Experience cooking or prepping food in a professional capacity.
-
WHMIS training or certification.
-
Janitorial, housekeeping or other professional cleaning experience.

Experience taking inventory and making orders.
Provisos

Must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays.

Must be willing and able to do shift work including rotational patterns such as 4 on–4 off and/or 4 on–2 off.

About this Position:
This position has full time on-site requirements.
This position is part time, for as and when, shift coverage. Biweekly hours will vary depending on shift availability Monday through Sunday.
This is a temporary opportunity for approximately 1 year. This position may be extended.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future full time and part time, temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
