Position Summary
The Aircraft Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting aircraft surfaces and components in accordance with engineering specifications, internal quality standards, and aviation safety regulations. The role requires high attention to detail and strict adherence to safety and process controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare aircraft and components for painting, including sanding, stripping, masking, cleaning, and degreasing
- Mix and apply primers, topcoats, and specialty coatings according to product specifications and company standards
- Use paint application equipment (e.g., HVLP spray guns) and maintain it in good working condition
- Interpret technical drawings, paint layouts, and process documentation
- Maintain environmental controls in spray booths and ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standards
- Perform quality inspections of painted surfaces, verifying coverage, thickness, and finish consistency
- Conduct rework, detailing, and touch-ups as necessary
- Complete documentation and records for quality assurance and traceability
- Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE (e.g., respirator, coveralls, gloves)
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support a clean, organized work area
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to meet delivery schedules
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized training program in aircraft refinishing, industrial painting, or a related field
- Canadian provincial or inter-provincial aircraft and/or automotive painter ticket including CCAA – Aviation Painter, ITAC, or equivalent ticket from another country is considered an asset.
- A recognized trade ticket or industry certification in painting, coating, or surface finishing is considered an asset
- WHMIS, respirator fit testing, and other relevant safety certifications required or must be obtained upon hire
- 2+ years of experience in aircraft, industrial, or automotive painting preferred
