Salary: $7,852.41 - $10,319.52 biweekly ($204,947.90 to $269,339.47 yearly)
Role
The Executive Director reports to the CEO of the Police Review Commission, with direct accountability to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives.
The role provides executive leadership and operational oversight for all ASIRT investigations, with full responsibility for provincial operations, investigative strategy, deployment, human resources, and financial stewardship.
Skills and Experience Required
With extensive senior leadership experience, you bring expert knowledge of the Police Act, related regulations, provincial and federal legislation, and a strong understanding of police duties and operational responsibilities. You possess deep expertise in criminal law, investigative procedures, and Alberta’s prosecution processes, including the work of the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service.
Your background includes advanced understanding of the Criminal Code, Canada Evidence Act, Charter compliance, and policing policies and governance. In addition, you excel in building strong relationships across government and the broader sector, supported by strong negotiation, facilitation, interpersonal, and consulting skills.
The ideal candidate must navigate significant change‑management demands, harmonizing processes, aligning organizational practices, and establishing efficient workflows across the three PRC branches. Successfully leading this integration while maintaining operational continuity and team cohesion will be a critical challenge.
A related undergraduate law degree and membership of or eligible for admission to, the Law Society of Alberta is required. A combination of experience and education will be considered. Job specific experience includes more than ten years of criminal law practice, along with significant senior management experience.
