Job Description
We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Palliser as our new Busperson, Hawthorn Dining Room & Bar (Part-time). Inspire and create the grandest experience for our guest, clients and colleagues every day. you play a vital supporting role in delivering seamless, world-class dining experiences. With grace, efficiency, and an unwavering attention to detail, you will ensure that each guest encounter reflects the polished standards of luxury hospitality. Working collaboratively with servers, bartenders, and the culinary team, you help maintain the elegance and readiness of our dining spaces, setting the tone for an exceptional guest journey. Reporting to the General Manager, Hawthorn Dining Room & Bar.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival to the dining room and assist in ensuring a personalized, attentive, and elevated experience from start to finish
- Uphold all restaurant and hotel service standards, including LQA protocols and Sequence of Service, to ensure consistency with five-star expectations
- Maintain working knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including menu structure, pairings, promotions, and our local supplier story, in order to support the service team and enhance the guest experience
- Ensure compliance with liquor laws, practicing responsible alcohol service in accordance with regulations and hotel policy
- Assist servers throughout the dining experience by clearing, resetting, and preparing tables promptly between courses and seating’s, while maintaining a discreet and polished presence
- Ensure that all used dishware and service items are returned directly to the dishwashing area via designated routes, out of guest view, and in adherence to sanitation procedures
- Support bartenders with ongoing bar setup, glassware restocking, and bar back duties, especially during periods of high volume, ensuring uninterrupted beverage service
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of service stations, heart-of-house areas, and bar support zones, ensuring readiness for every shift
- Complete all assigned side duties and daily prep tasks to ensure the team is well-equipped for efficient service execution
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant workspace, following all Health & Safety procedures with the knowledge and tools necessary to work responsibly
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Restaurant General Manager or their designate, always with professionalism and a guest-first mindset
Qualifications

- Previous experience in a luxury hospitality or upscale restaurant environment is considered a strong asset
- Exhibit flexibility in scheduling, with availability to work a variety of shifts and days based on business needs and seniority
- Demonstrates exceptional communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and remain composed in dynamic service settings
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and supportively as part of a high-functioning team
- Possesses strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Highly responsible, dependable, and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to upholding luxury service standards
- Thrives under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, maintaining grace and efficiency at all times
