##About the position
Duties In this role, you will work closely with community health teams to provide clinical guidance, support program development, and respond to emerging health needs, including but not limited to wildfire and flood response. Your day may include mentoring nurses, assisting with case or outbreak management, delivering education sessions, collaborating with leadership and partners, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. You will also support and participate in door-to-door health service outreach, helping to increase access to care and connect directly with community members. Work is dynamic and community-driven, with a strong focus on relationship-building, adaptability, and advancing safe, culturally appropriate care in rural and remote settings.This position involves regular travel (approximately 50–75% of the time), which may include day travel within local communities or extended stays in rural and remote communities, depending on service needs.

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) in Alberta only with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements as well as tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) and/or security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.Successful placement in a pool does not guarantee an offer of employment.Please note that this process will ONLY be used to staff positions in Alberta.

i) PRE-PLACEMENT: Category 3 health evaluation*
ii) PERIODIC: Category 3 health evaluation according to the schedule outlined in Section I of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard for “Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) Nurses Assigned to Isolated Posts in Northern First Nations Communities”
- This position requires a successful pre-placement Category- 3 health evaluation. Exceptionally, due to the urgent need to maintain staffing levels in nursing stations, a temporary preplacement Category 1 Personal Health Declaration evaluation may be accepted. In this case, employees will be asked to complete a Category 3 Health Evaluation within twelve (12) months of hire to ensure their compliance with the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard.
- Willingness to be assigned to a variety of communities as operationally required, including remote locations and isolated posts
- Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles, across ice bridges and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas
- Willingness and ability to work in a rigorous, diverse and often demanding work environment
- Willingness and ability to perform on call duties, work after hours, and on weekends as required
- Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position
- Continuous professional registration, without conditions or restrictions, with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta
- Willingness and ability to relocate to Alberta

- Significant**experience with immunizations such as mass clinics, school or well-child clinics
- Significant**experience in the treatment and management of Sexually Transmitted Blood Borne Infections (STBBI)
- Significant**experience in harm reduction and addictions processes and procedures

- Significant**experience with health emergency management
- Significant**experience as a labour and delivery nurse, NICU, and/or as a post-partum nurse.
- Significant**experience managing diverse patient populations with chronic disease, post-discharge planning, wound care, and case management.
