WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE
The Environment & Sustainability team is dedicated to protecting Calgary’s natural resources and minimizing our airports’ ecological footprint. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct routine environmental monitoring and sampling, including surface water, groundwater, and stormwater.
- Maintain accurate environmental data records, databases, and monitoring logs to support compliance and reporting.
- Review laboratory results, identify trends or anomalies, and prepare data summaries for internal and external reporting.
- Support regulatory compliance activities by assisting with quarterly and annual reports and maintaining procedural documentation.
- Participate in tenant site visits, environmental inspections, and operational walkdowns to observe practices and document findings.
- Support environmental investigations, odour complaints, and spill or incident response activities as required.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING
- You’ll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don’t worry – we’ll help you through this! For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information
- Environmental industry-focused vocational training is required; Post secondary education in environmental science or related fields is preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- 1–3 years of experience performing environmental field work, including sampling and monitoring.
- Demonstrated experience collecting, interpreting, and managing environmental data to support regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data tracking and reporting.
- As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
- This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.
WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET
- Bilingual in English and French
- Experience supporting water quality, stormwater, or groundwater monitoring programs.
- Familiarity with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal environmental regulations and reporting requirements.
- Experience working in an operational, industrial, or transportation environment.
