As a Cultural Landscape Coordinator, you will work as part of a team to implement the Cultural Landscape Strategic Plan (CLSP). You will actively identify, protect, manage, conserve, and celebrate cultural landscapes within Calgary's parks, including historic parks/gardens, sites with archaeological resources, and culturally significant Indigenous landscapes. You will work as a subject matter expert and collaborate with other business units and external partners, to ensure the conservation and appropriate use of Calgary's cultural landscapes. Primary duties include:
- Act as a subject matter expert and key interest holder representing the Cultural Landscape portfolio for Parks and Open Spaces projects as well as other City projects.
- Ensure City projects are compliant with local, provincial, and federal regulations and adhere to Council policy and established best practices with respect to cultural landscape conservation.
- Direct smaller capital construction projects, including project delivery based on The City's Corporate Project Management Framework, including managing and consulting teams, interest holders, and timelines to deliver required park infrastructure.
- Build and foster collaborative partnerships with internal business units and external interest holders to advance the appropriate use, conservation and celebration of cultural landscapes, heritage resources, archaeological resources, and culturally significant Indigenous areas.
- Create conservation plans including site analysis, the development of concepts, detail finalization and the assembly of procurement packages as well as follow through with administration on smaller projects.
- Undertake asset management practices including monitoring asset condition and integrity ratings for character defining elements and collaborate with Parks Business Asset Strategies to establish record keeping policy, procedures, and practices.
- Support Calgary Parks' representatives across the business unit to increase citizen awareness of historic parks/gardens, sites with archaeological resources, and culturally significant Indigenous landscapes.
Qualifications
- A degree in Landscape Architecture, Archaeology, Heritage Planning, or a related field and at least 1 year of related experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a Landscape Architecture degree.
- The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively would be considered an asset.
- Well-developed communication skills with the ability to participate in technical discussions with Architects, City Planners and Councilors, as well as the general public.

Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $48.54 - 64.88 per hour
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle
