About the role
Key Position Functions
- Assist in maintaining the ongoing development, implementation, and effectiveness of the Company Health and Safety Management System. Ensure that all safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are followed.
- Advise managers and employees about relevant safe work standards, practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Evaluate work activities to determine potential hazards and ensure that adequate controls are in place.
- Assess and support the safe work practices and procedures for compliance with all governing bodies.
- Lead and assist with site inspections, hazard assessments, safety meetings, and field audits.
- Review FLRA’s, JHA’s and pre-use reports.
- Assist in organizing and conducting safety training sessions for employees.
- Provide information and guidance on health and safety topics.
- Assist in incident investigations ensuring they are completed fully, and that appropriate root causes and corrective actions are identified and implemented.
- Assist with coordinating internal and external audits of SFI HSE management system.
- Assist with developing and implementing the Joint Work Site Health & Safety Committees.
- Comply with all formal communication and reporting expectations.
- Promote safe work practices, fostering a strong safety culture.
- Complete project work and other related duties as assigned.
Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:
- Working towards or Completion of a recognized OH&S certificate program.
- Standard First Aid with CPR level C Certificate.
- Minimum of 2+ years of HSE experience.
- Strong analytical, communication (oral and written), and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); knowledge of SharePoint an asset.
- The ability to travel as necessary to fulfill the above functions as directed.
