As an Inspector, Community Outreach with the Public Vehicle Standards division, you will be responsible for ensuring the execution of Transit Public Safety's strategic vision, programs and intelligence-based deployment practices. Primary duties include:

• Oversee and lead the delivery of the Community Outreach team program, which is a partnership program between Alpha House (HELP Team), Transit Public Safety Peace Officers, Law Enforcement Agencies, and other valued community partners.
• Provide continual review of business unit policies and standard operating procedures, advance integrative strategies that support the business unit¿s goals and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with policy and audit requirements of the Provincial Public Security Peace Officer Program.
• Manage projects and ensure sustainable systems are developed which increase organizational capacity.
• Develop competency based human resource practices, recruitment, retention, and leadership development.
• Create and develop collaborative opportunities to work with community partnerships in an integrated, multi disciplinary approach providing resources and support to the vulnerable population.
• Provider strategic direction and oversight to direct reports, including Transit Public Safety Peace Officers, and the Community Outreach Liaison.

Qualifications

• A completed certificate or diploma equivalent to 2 to 3 years of full-time study in Justice Studies or Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related Social Sciences discipline and at least 8 years of applicable experience.
• Supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
• Experience with outreach agencies and Casework experience would be considered an asset.
• A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
• Success in this position requires strong communication skills, leadership ability, customer service orientation, excellent people management skills and the ability to foster a positive work environment.

• A security clearance and drug test will be conducted.
• Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
