About the Position

The Calgary Legal Team is seeking a Litigation Lawyer (approximately 3+ years post-call) to join our growing practice.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a diverse litigation caseload within a collaborative environment. You will be responsible for guiding clients through complex legal matters, representing them in court and alternative resolution processes, and working closely with a team of lawyers and paralegals to deliver efficient, high-quality legal services.

The Calgary Legal Team is intentionally structured to support both strong legal work and a sustainable approach to practice. Lawyers are given ownership of their files while working within a team environment that values collaboration, sound judgement, and practical results.

Key Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of litigation and client advisory work, including:

• Managing litigation files from intake through resolution, with ownership of strategy and execution

• Conducting legal analysis and providing strategic advice to clients

• Drafting pleadings, affidavits, legal memoranda, and settlement agreements

• Representing clients in court proceedings, mediations, and negotiations

• Assessing legal risk and advising on dispute resolution strategies

• Collaborating with lawyers, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient file management

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships

Qualifications

• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (or eligibility for admission)
• Minimum of three (3) years of post-call litigation experience
• Law degree from a recognized institution
• Experience in at least one of our practice areas (e.g., Family Law, Civil Litigation, Estates Litigation, Tax Litigation, Corporate Law, Estate Planning) is required.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage files from start to finish
• Experience appearing in court and participating in dispute resolution processes
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a professional environment
• A collaborative, pragmatic, and client-focused approach

Additional experience considered an asset:

• Experience working in or with regulatory bodies, boards, or federal commissions

• Exposure to administrative or regulatory law matters
