About the Department
Facilities - Maintenance includes all trade and grounds positions that work in school and administrative sites.

Note:

This position may be required to work outside in various weather conditions and temperatures and involves repeated physical movement and exertion.

Must become certified in TDG and WHMIS.

Must provide a current driver’s abstract.

Must qualify for a Government of Alberta Locksmith Individual Licence as required in the Security Services and Investigators Act.
Position Description
Purpose
The purpose of this position is to install and repair architectural hardware at work sites within the Calgary Board of Education (CBE).
Accountability
This position is accountable for ensuring that safe working procedures exist and are followed and adhered to at all times.
Responsibilities
-
Utilizes hand and power tools to carry out installation, replacement, rebuilding, rearrangement, repair or adjustment of locking devices, safes, and or electro-mechanical parts.

Makes keys by: duplication, impression, codes or other means involving specialized knowledge of locking devices.

Circumvents locking devices by means other than the use of a key or combination.

Creates, installs and maintains multi-level master key systems.

Maintains detailed key records at both school sites and within the locksmith department office.

Creates and maintains a working level of inventory of material for their service vehicle.

Adheres to all CBE policies, regulations and procedures relating to the locksmith trade.

Conducts self in an appropriate manner while carrying out his/her duties in a student environment and while working with other CBE staff.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Province of Alberta Journeyman Locksmith Certificate combined with a minimum of two years related experience
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Working knowledge of National and Alberta Building and Fire codes relating to the locksmith trade.
Conditions of Employment
Police Information Clearance: Applicants new to the Calgary Board of Education WHO ARE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT must complete and pass a police information clearance before employment is confirmed.
