As a Parks Program Ambassador, you will play a key role in the delivery of programs and services intended to enhance Calgarians' and visitor's enjoyment, appreciation, connection and stewardship of our City's parks and greenspaces. You will be responsible for providing front-line delivery of Parks & Open Spaces programs and services in the form of instructional programs, volunteer initiatives, public engagement, events, and learning activities. Primary duties include:
- Provide program support by organizing logistics and delivering program content and materials.
- Review Program outlines and required materials and equipment including transporting resources to locations as required.
- Respond to questions from the public and program participants.
- Monitor program supplies and equipment, order and purchase required materials.
- Record and submit program statistics and evaluations.
- Assist with program content creation.
Qualifications
- A completed 2 year diploma in a relevant area such as Public Relations, Education, Recreation, Environmental Science, Communication, Ecotourism and at least 1 year of experience in a related area is required.
- Previous experience in community, recreation, park programming or school programming is required.
- Current Standard First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR a valid Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits) and no current charges or suspensions pending is required.
- You have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be an effective team member.
- You have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to obtain City of Calgary operator's permit is required.
**Working Conditions:**Works mostly outdoors with the public with some office work.
Pre-employment Requirements
- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
**Pre-employment Drug Test:**An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

**Position Type:**2 Permanent part-time and 2 Temporary part-time (up to 6 months)
**Compensation:**Pay Grade 8 $39.00 - 52.14 per hour
**Hours of work:**Non-standard 20-hour work week.
**Days of Work:**This position works various shifts from Thursday to Sunday, based on operational requirements.
