We are looking for an experienced Site Carpenter to join our workforce housing projects team in Calgary. This is a full-time temporary assignment for 11-12 months.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build house framework, walls, roof, exterior and interior finishes
- Install doors, windows, flooring, cabinets, stairs, handrails, paneling, molding, and ceiling tiles
- Repair and remodel existing structures of all kinds
- Read and interpret drawings.
- Select materials, plan sequences and methods of work, and measure and mark materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions.
- Cut and shape materials and join them with nails, screws, bolts, or glue.
- Check completed units to ensure they are level, square, plumb, and in the right size, shape, and location.
- Work accurately and economically and follow national and local building codes
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years of carpentry experience in a commercial or industrial construction setting; modular construction experience is considered an asset
- Safety-conscious with a proven track record of following safe work practices
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools and working with diverse construction materials
- Effective communicator and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
